Cinderella Dances

Well, the big day arrived and tonight was Carmen's big recital. Going through my head are a few things: will she get on stage? will she cry? will she dance or just stand there? is she going to cry when I leave her backstage? The lessons were all worth it because the look on her face when she ran to me after the show was worth a million dollars. She loved being on stage and said she wants to do another show. She was so happy and proud of herself and the most important thing was that SHE LOVED IT! She had so much fun.
Her dance was Bippidi Boppidi Boo. She did as well as a 3 year old can as far as remembering the steps. The audience was laughing at the end as they went to find their wands on the floor. It was very cute. At one point the instructors had to come on stage and get them regrouped but it all worked out.

The tear jerker of the night was the Daddy Daughter Dance. Some dads participated in a performace to the song "Cinderella". The song describes a little girl who begs her daddy to dance with her when she is a very small child. That is the part that Carmen danced to. By the end the song talks about how she aks her dad to teach her how to dance for her wedding day! Ohh the tears were flowing. People whose kids were not even participating were crying.

Cinderella - Lyrics By: Steven Curtis Chapman

She spins and she sways

To whatever song plays

Without a care in the world

And I'm sitting here wearing

The weight of the world on my shoulders

It's been a long day

And there's still work to do

She's pulling at me Saying "Dad, I need you

There's a ball at the castle

And I've been invited

And I need to practice my dancing

Oh, please, Daddy, please?"

So I danced with Cinderella

While she is here in my arms

'Cause I know something the prince never knew

Oh, I danced with Cinderella

I don't wanna miss even one song

'Cause all too soon the clock will strike midnight

And she'll be gone

She says he's a nice guy and I'd be impressed

She wants to know if I approve of her dress

She says, "Dad, the prom is just one week away

And I need to practice my dancing

Oh, please, Daddy, please?"

So I danced with Cinderella

While she is here in my arms

'Cause I know something the prince never knew

Oh, I danced with Cinderella

I don't want to miss even one song

'Cause all too soon the clock will strike midnight

And she'll be gone

She will be gone

Well, she came home today with a ring on her hand

Just glowing and telling us all they had planned

She says, "Dad, the wedding's still six months away

But I need to practice my dancing

Oh, please, Daddy, please?"

So I danced with Cinderella

While she is here in my arms

'Cause I know something the prince never knew

Oh, I danced with CinderellaI don't want to miss even one song

'Cause all too soon the clock will strike midnight

And she'll be gone

Felt bad because this is all about Carmen. Gianni actually learned the backstroke on Friday and can do it without much assistance because he floats very well. Go Gianni!

Summer craft time. Week #1 is officially done and summer is great so far!
